This month we’re going to go through the process of setting up a POP3 email account with Microsoft’s Outlook Express. Many of our client’s seem to have trouble configuring their email on this platform, so we thought we’d write a simple tutorial that you can follow with ease

If this is the first time you’ve opened Outlook Express, the Internet Connection Wizard will appear automatically

Otherwise, go to Tools on the top bar and select Accounts.

Click Add, then Mail. This will launch the Internet Connection Wizard.

Enter your full name (or the name you’d like people to see when you send them email from this account) and click Next.

Enter the address you’re setting up, (??@yourdomain.com)

Fill in the mail server addresses (see below the screenshot if you need help with this).

  • Choose POP3 from the dropdown box
  • Incoming mail server: For POP3, this is: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing mail server:  mail.yourdomain.com

When you’ve done this click Next.

Fill in your E-mail username and password

Don’t tick Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

Click Next to continue.

That’s all you need to do. Click Finish to close the Internet Connection Wizard and then click Close to get back to your Inbox.

Finally Click Send/Receive and your email will be downloaded your Inbox.

That’s all you need to do. If you have any questions about your email service or you experience any problems, please call our team on 01253 361660.
